Yitro

The priest of Midian, he becomes Moshe’s father-in-law.

Yitro, also known as “Reuel,” is recorded as living in Midian, a territory stretching from east of the Dead Sea south onto the Sinai. He was likely a descendant of Avraham through his son Midian. Jethro’s daughter, Zipporah, becomes Moshe’s wife after Moshe flees Egypt for having killed an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew slave. Moshe worked as a shepherd for Yitro for 40 years before returning to Egypt to lead the Jews out of Egypt.
