David the Shepherd Boy, Part 4

Every day, David would bring his father’s sheep to the wonderful valley where they could enjoy grazing. David was a caring, faithful shepherd. He watched over the flock the entire time and took good care of them. He would run around checking and making sure that not even one of the sheep might accidentally hurt itself on a stick or stone. He kept a lookout so that no beast of prey would come near and harm any of his beautiful sheep. David was trustworthy and always on guard.

One sunny day, as David was leading the flock to pasture, one little lamb broke away and started running across the meadow. The rest of the sheep continued heading down to the green valley, but the little lamb kept running farther and farther away in the other direction. David quickly herded the other sheep to the safe valley while keeping the stray little lamb in his sight.

He then raised his hands in prayer, saying:

“Creator of the world! Merciful Father! Please help me! Please watch over my flock, and help me save the lamb that ran away. Father in Heaven, the One Who listens to prayers, have mercy on Your creation and don’t let anything bad happen to it.”

To be continued, G-d willing.
