My Poor Kedusha

Here's a song for us women that would be a befitting anthem for the Shovevim weeks, when we're all trying to get stronger in personal holiness and to get closer to Hashem. Sing along to the tune of that good ol’ camp classic, “On Top of Spaghetti!”

On top of a burger

All covered with cheese

I lost my kedusha

When I did as I pleased

I bought a long sheitel

Nearly reached the floor

And then poor kedusha

Rolled right out the door

I really enjoyed when

I got lots of stares

And then poor kedusha

Could no longer bear

My skirt was real long, but,

It was very tight

And then poor kedusha

Just fainted from fright

My face was so pretty

As pretty could be

But then poor kedusha

Couldn’t tolerate me

My lips, they were covered

All covered with gloss

And then poor kedusha

Was a total loss

If you think you’re tzanua

But show off your knees

Say bye to kedusha

Cause she’s gonna flee!

And if you tempt men

To look your way

You'll lose your kedusha

It will never stay.

So stop and ponder

What you stand to lose

For the path of kedusha

Is the right thing to choose.

Tell us what you think!
