Devorah

My name is Devorah,
I’m a black and yellow bee,
I also have two wings, as you can see.
I live in a bee hive,
Made of waxy honeycomb,
It’s filled with sticky honey; it’s our family’s home.
 
We fly in the garden,
Looking for pollen to eat,
We find it inside flowers and make it yummy and sweet.
Our mother guards our home,
They say she is the Queen,
She lays a lot of eggs and is happy, busy and clean.
 
I always help my mother
With feeding my baby brothers,
I clean up my own bedroom and help tidy all the others.
I make a buzzing sound,
My family buzzes too,
That’s how we talk together; it’s not meant for scaring you.
 
And when the day is over,
When time for sleep has come along,
My mommy sometimes sings me a soothing, bedtime song.
I say my prayers for sleeping,
And thank G-d that bees are blessed,
Then I float into slumber for another good night’s rest.
