"Ahoooay, Ahoooay!"
A stranger, it would seem
A challenging deer
From the other side of the stream.
Zachary raises his head
And perks his ears
What he sees and hears
Confirms his fears
Zachary circles the clan
And its make-believe border
He shows who the boss is
And then gives an order
"Intruding young buck
Don’t approach any more
If you come any closer
It’s an act of war!"
The young challenger
A boasting buck of age four
Twenty eight in human terms
With muscles galore
Sports the biggest antlers
You’ve ever laid eyes on
The most impressive buck
On the whole horizon
The young does of the clan
Think he’s really neat
Wide-eyed and awed
Their hearts skip a beat.
His name is Dandy
And as you probably expect
He’s a handsome young show-off
With not much respect.
