I keep hearing the “fruit is not good for you because it has sugar” fear mongering. So if you don’t mind, I’d like to set things straight once and for all on this all-important topic.

 

“Hashem God planted a garden in Eden, to the east, and placed here the man whom He had formed. And Hashem God caused to sprout from the ground every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food…” Genesis 1:8-9.

 

“And Hashem God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat…’” Genesis 1:16.

 

Fruit was man’s first food, handed to him on a silver platter by Hashem. Unfortunately due to today’s low-carb-no-sugar trend, people fear fruit. They mistakenly believe that the sugar in fruit is bad for you.

Fruit is also a tremendous intestinal cleanser when eaten at the right time, which is in the morning on an EMPTY stomach. Do this consistently and watch your bowels empty out every morning like clockwork. We’re talking weight loss and majorly high energy here!

 

Everybody wants to know the secret to living longer. Yet so many people are blinded by an anti-sugar mentality that they can’t see the truth. The sugar in fruit is NOT to blame for illness. It is NOT the same as HFCS, white sugar, brown sugar or any or the other processed, bleached, denatured, fake, poisonous “sugar” out there. Fruit is NOT making people sick.

 

Fruit keeps your body going in ways that science hasn’t even begun to fully comprehend. It’s an absolute necessity. You can’t function as a human being without glucose (the simple sugar into which your body breaks down foods). It fuels your brain, your nervous system and the cells throughout your body. And like I said before but it bears repeating, it CLEANS your body from the inside out (read: it makes you go to the bathroom and release the toxic waste). It is part of our essence, the first food we ate way back when man was first created, a basic element of who we are. It outweighs the nutrient content of any other food and is a critical part of how you overcome illness.

 

The belief that all sugars are the same is a powerful and fast- growing trend. If this keeps up, fruit meals and snacks will become a rarity. When you hear from a friend or practitioner that you should avoid fruit, remember what you've just read. Know that they are spreading misinformation, not necessarily on purpose, it’s just that they’re on board the trend train.

 

PLEASE – use your sechel hayashar, your God-given ability for common sense thinking – and do not avoid fruit.

 

Always eat fruit on an empty stomach. That means either in the morning for breakfast or 3 hours after a meal.

 

Here are a couple of recipes that I’ve enjoyed over the years and that I firmly believe have contributed to my health, youthfulness, fertility and slimness.

Fruit Cereal

 

Handful of chopped almonds

Handful of chopped pecans

Cup of chopped apples and bananas

Handful of raisins or chopped up dates

Place in a bowl and top with almond milk.

 

Yummy fruit shake that both my baby and hubby love

 

3 golden delicious apples

2-3 dates

1 orange, peeled

2 bananas

1 heaping TBS almond butter

1 heaping TBS coconut oil

A tiny bit of water to make sure it gets properly swished up in the blender

Blend for 1-2 minutes on high.

Drink immediately.
