Neutralize It!

The more good we embrace through our thoughts, our speech and our actions, the more light filters into the universe because we become a conduit of blessings and hope…

When we smile, the world smiles with us, but when we cry, we cry alone. My mother ob’m repeated this very true statement more than once as I was growing up. Maybe that’s why I find myself smiling a lot. Spreading joy is a big factor in success because along with the smile comes positive energies that bring goodness to the one who smiles and to others. The more good we embrace through our thoughts, our speech, our presence and our actions, the more light filters into the universe because we become a conduit of blessings, hope, and connection.

In the world of science, those who have tapped into natural medicine remind us that toxins must be neutralized. Heartburn, stomach indigestion, and GERD are all symptomatic of an acidic condition that can be neutralized with that which is alkaline. Papaya enzymes and ½ teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of warm water are two potent substances that help to defuse, deactivate, and counterbalance an acidic or toxic internal physical environment. So if it works that way in the world of physicality, for sure it works the same way in the world of spiritual and emotional energies. Anger and bitterness can lead to harmful physical symptoms and illnesses.

Any semblance of evil, of toxicity, that we see out there is only because we are still trying to fight against it instead of neutralize it, thereby adding to the noxious environment. That’s why we are reminded that we cannot fight fire with fire. We don’t try to counter the darkness head-on:  We can only fight evil with light just as we neutralize an acidic condition with alkalinity. To embrace this wisdom and believe that to remain neutral and unaffected by the evil will do more to bust it up than trying to combat it is a huge step for mankind. Just understanding how energy works can help us all to remain strong and positive whenever we hear or experience negativity.

The ability to neutralize evil or toxic forces comes from our strengthened emuna. When we know, with certainty, that G-d loves us, that we are His children, and that He facilitates only what is good for us, we can stand firm when a naysayer criticizes us or expresses doubt that we will be successful, or when we hear a negative comment, G-d forbid, about someone else or about our physical health. In those times of negativity, we think about Hashem, and we counter them with good thoughts and with positive vibrations of gratitude for the opportunity to dissolve the destructive force. We remain vigilant, strong, and silent. We counteract the effect with equally strong positive thoughts and words. We choose faith over fear.

When we think of Hashem, we move away from frustration and anger, which are vibrations of very low frequency that create toxicity. We push away the negativity by, if necessary, placing our tongue at the roof of our mouth which renders us unable to speak for the moment. We close our eyes, if needed, and focus immediately upon a good thought or beautiful vision, and we refuse to respond to any negative comment except, if appropriate, to say a positive word or two. We either change the subject, or we move away altogether. When we do these simple actions, we are healing ourselves and our part of the world.

Real change occurs when we are able to put into action what we learn. This is true da’as, where the heart and mind act in unison:  When we can apply these principles to our own lives, then we know that the wisdom that our minds have acquired has filtered down into our hearts. When a response to any negative comment or experience is viewed as an opportunity to neutralize harmful energies and we take the steps to do it, we know we have mastered a very significant behavior modification.

By believing that each of us has the power to bring light energy into our world just by our ability to respond to situations we face in a positive way, we can make a huge difference in what we eventually witness on a larger scale. When more and more people find this technique to be effective in their lives and it spreads like a domino effect, we can neutralize the evil that is currently struggling to survive. This evil is the last remnant of what we have already succeeded in exposing and vaporizing. A flame that is just about to flicker out suddenly has a burst of strength before it fades away. That is what is happening to evil. When evil explodes, we can view it as a precursor to its dissolution, and we can help it dissolve. Through self-discipline, taking responsibility, having confidence in our power to make a difference, and the unification of science and spirit may we merit positive changes in our lives. It’s time to light up the world.
