In Ancient Greece, the Jews fought idolatry. If we refused to bow down to an impostor of wood and stone, they would starve us. In the Inquisition we fought conversion to Christianity. If we didn’t make a man a god, they would torture us. In the Arab world, we fought submission to becoming Muslims. If we didn’t turn our backs to Jerusalem five times a day, they would kill us.

At least they had the courtesy to tell us that they were our enemies and wanted to do away with us.

It seems that they just don’t make enemies like they used to.

Today's enemy is the worst we have ever had to face. Instead of threatening us with shame, torture, or even death, they are using sex, drugs, and trance music. They are winning, wiping out huge swaths of secular Jews, liberal Jews, and even making headways in the Orthodox Torah communities.

The biggest enemy that Judaism has ever faced is the religion of nothing.

It’s the religion that makes the ultimate offer to its followers. They can do anything that feels good to them by simply pledging allegiance to secularism. As long as you ally yourself with feminism, homoism, Palestinians, or anything they deem warm and fuzzy, you are absolved of all your sins. Hedonism at its very best – and worst.

You can relinquish all personal responsibility to G-d, to Torah, and to each other by simply having the right opinion. As long as you believe in the Party, you can enjoy the party all your life.

The Religion of Today

Manmade religions reflect the world they are in. What do we worship today that makes great fodder for a manmade religion?

Physical pleasure. It’s cheap. It’s accessible more than ever before. The only problem is that it’s forbidden by the Bible.

They wanted to do something and needed “spiritual” permission.

This is the idolatry of today. Just believe in something progressive and you can do whatever you want. Ihan Omar wants to be an anti-Semite – that’s okay – she’s a feminist. AOC wants to ruin people’s lives by blocking business and jobs in her home state – that's okay, she’s a minority. You want to cheat on your family, party till dawn, and eat a cheeseburger? Just click Like on whatever they say.

To anyone who has physical desires, meaning all of us, the offer gives new meaning to the word temptation.

It is also the copout of mankind. The offer by society to never be held accountable to G-d, to your family, to your community, or to yourself for anything in this world. No wonder why Communism is in vogue, a system where nobody is responsible for anything. No wonder why Communism is inherently devoid of Godliness, as the state plays the role of mommy, daddy, and god.

Worse Than Any Tragedy

Without even realizing it, we are amputating our own nation for a Smartphone and an Amazon Gift Card.

We become depressed because we are living a life devoid of its purpose. To numb the pain, we go back to filling the very temptations that are destroying us. To turn away from the consequences, we embrace the religion of nothing.

It's the perfect formula to pass 30 years of your life with nothing to show for it, staying the same exact person when Milli Vanilli topped the Billboard 100.

Don't let them do this to you. Even if you get a free pass by standing up for this cause, the moment you sit down you will feel the emptiness. It’s a cycle that can spiral your life down to nothing.

Break free from their hold by doing something different! Embrace the religion of everything because Hashem is Everything!

  • – Learn about Emuna 20 minutes a day.

  • – Download a Torah shiur to your iPad and listen to it on the way to work.

  • – Talk to God while you run, walk, or sit alone.

  • – Recite Psalms 10 minutes a day.

Stand up to the world telling you to to worship nothing and dedicate today to doing something.
