Follow the Law

Just like there are physical laws of nature, so too, there are spiritual laws! You have to follow the law, and not ask God to cancel the law on your behalf.

Last week, I explained that if you really truly believe – not just saying “thank you” as a mantra, but truly believe that it’s for the best and say “thank you” with happiness – then your suffering or problem will certainly be cancelled. This week, I want to explain more about how this works:

It is a spiritual rule that if you say “thank you” with true happiness and believe that this is really for the best, then the suffering is cancelled. It’s not just a promise – it’s really a rule. Just like there are physical laws of nature, so too, there are spiritual laws!

First of all, you have to believe in the Creator of the World – you have to have real emunaYou might tell me: “I have emuna! I believe in G-d!” The problem is that you aren’t happy with the way that G-d is leading you and the way your life is going! That means that the belief you have in “god” – that “god” isn’t the G-d who created you – it’s a “god” that you created! The G-d who created you only does the very best for you.

So, you don’t understand. It’s okay to say that you don’t understand! You can also sing my song: “I don’t understand a thing, I only believe that everything is for the best!” In Hebrew:  Lo mavin klum, rak maamin  shehakol litova!” If you understood, then it wouldn’t mean so much to believe.

To believe in Hashem means to believe that all of your difficulties and problems is part of your portion. You have to go through this difficult period of time in your life. You must undergo this test. This is a portion of the path that Hashem has determined for you. No matter what you must go through this period of time of your life – go through it with emuna!

You must say to Hashem: “Creator of the World, you love me, with eternal and unending love. You created everything for me. It is your will that I go through this test, this difficult thing, this path? Give me emuna! I don’t want anything in this world. I only want emuna. If I am not happy with my suffering, then I don’t believe! I want to believe! It’s really difficult for me, please help me! I want to be happy with my portion, I want to be happy with this suffering. If I am not happy, then I don’t have emuna, and I don’t have anything. Therefore, I don’t want anything except emuna – to be happy with my portion and say thank you with real happiness. I don’t want You to pay my debts, I don’t want my soulmate, and I don’t want children. Nothing! I only want you to give me emuna. Just give me emuna!”

Automatically, when you have emuna, then it’s a law of nature – a real law of nature! – then “certainly all of the suffering will be cancelled” (Quote from Rabbi Natan of Breslev). Rabbi Natan didn’t promise – he just explained a spiritual law. Therefore, what do you need to request in prayer? Just emuna.

If you request that Hashem should fix your problem, then you’re a fool, because you aren’t working with the laws of nature – you’re asking Hashem to cancel the laws! The law of nature says that if you believe, then your problem will be solved, and the difficulty will end. But you say, “No! I want to not believe, and still have you fix my problem! I don’t want to go according to the rules; I want you to change the rules for me!” It doesn’t work like that. There are rules, and here you are, asking Hashem to cancel them for you? You want your soulmate, without believing that it’s for the best that you haven’t found him or her yet? Believe that it’s for the best, and then automatically, the problem will go away. You want to do your portion – which is to believe in Hashem!

You have to believe that this law will work! That is why I keep explaining this over and over. I tell more and more stories. Here is another one:

I personally know a big Rabbi and tzaddik. He cried every single day, because none of his children were married. Nothing happened. One day, he decided to throw a huge Seudat Hodaya – a festive meal of gratitude. He invited all the children, and at the meal, explained that it was for them – thank you Hashem, that they are not yet married! That year, he married off 3 or 4 of them…

Forgive me for the honor of this Rabbi, but he didn’t know to say “thank you” for his suffering before. He isn’t to blame! If I didn’t learn the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev, I also wouldn’t know. The holy 10 brothers – if only someone had done hafatza (distributing emuna books)! They also didn’t learn Likutei Moharan, Likutei Halachot, The Garden of Gratitude – no one is to blame! The Gemara says that if they had learned emuna from Yosef, the Redemption would have come then already. Learn from this what happens when someone doesn’t learn emuna. We have to be strong to distribute the teachings of emuna! Do hafatza!

***

You can also help spread the teachings of emuna. The Breslev Israel Store offers bulk at-cost discounts for those who want to spread emuna, such as 100 GEMS. You can also support Emuna Outreach, and we will distribute the materials on your behalf, or in merit of a loved one who needs a salvation. There is no greater merit than teaching others emuna!

Tell us what you think!

that prayer verbatim that we should recite to Gd per above “Creator of the World…Just give me emunah ” declares or implies that we don’t want a soulmate, children, or for our debts to be repaid. So is this some sort of jinxing or are we forfeiting or giving up on those pursuits by saying we don’t want sidduch, offspring or parnasa?
