As a Yiddish Jew, born and raised in the USA watching my goodness heritage vaporize

I share your story 101%. Jewish born men in the Law and financial have become thieves. They steal without shame family inheritances. Then they protect themselves with the walls of the Jewish Federations. The Jewish Federations have become nothing less then a Country Club of thieves. It is criminal that a Jew cannot go to a Federation for Representation. I am in there process of making Israel Aliyah! I was traveling through Nashville and the Orthodox forbid me entrance, called the Swat on me!

  Maybe a little hypocritical?

I agree. I would like to see the healthcare system expanded in the USA so that it more resembles Scandinavia. Maybe we can fund it by sending the aide that is bound for Israel and many other countries to our own healthcare system? What do you think? Would it not be fair to help out the citizens of ones own country first before those of another?

  The United States of Sodom

While there is much to criticize from a Torah perspective about the current state of the US, this column is full of inaccuracies (e.g. the US employment rate is extremely low, not high and going continually higher as it states). It also seems to seethe with an unsettling anger. I find it inconsistent with the general tone and direction of Breslevers and this site.

I wrote this article a few years ago so I don't remember details about Obamacare. I do remember reading about MANY, MANY people who couldn't afford insurance because it RAISED their rates and LOWERED their coverage. I follow alternative news, which usually tells the opposite story. CNN and others like it are far from biased. If you follow them I don't know what to tell you. I can't comment on Trump because I'm not following him closely.

Thanks for your feedback, Ted! While you are right in one respect, we can never say it's too late to change things. That's why we do our best to spread emuna in the states and the rest of the world. We can't just sit and lament something that's happening without trying to do something about it. These articles are hopefully a wake-up call for people, not just a "you're doomed" write-off. Our mission is to spread emuna and awareness of Hashem, because this is what we feel will bring redemption.

Thanks for your feedback,Heshy! Of course we pray for the welfare of those in the States! That is the whole point of our emuna tours to the states! We want them to be safe and connected to Hashem in the best possible way. So not only do we pray for them, but we actually go there and do our best to spread awareness of Hashem through emuna. Articles like these are written to help wake them up out of their fantasy lives- to help them, not to pick on them, G-d forbid! I hope this clarifies better.

  Tread Carefully!

Thank you for this wonderful article I am in no position to criticise or complain, therefore this comment is a question and not a criticism or complaint The article mentions sodom. in the Chumash, Avraham pleaded and begged for sodom to be spared. Is it possible that saying they will be or asking that they are destroyed whilst not Davening for these poor souls to be speared is invoking divine wrath against us? Please ponder this notion for I would very much enjoy your analysis. -Good Shabbos

  County is gone

The US is a country that has already lost its way. Regardless of Obamacare, spiraling deficit spending, lack of morals, the United States is already done the tubes. Once a nation turns its back on God and his universal laws, God forsakes that nation. Just read the Hebrew Bible. Unfortunately, the same depravities is happening in Israel too. Unlike American, Europe, or other places in the diaspora, the land of Israel is the King's Palace. Sinning in the King's palace is a sure fire method to be expelled from it too. The world needs a massive movement of returning to Hashem.

What do you think about what's happening now?

This article is very disappointing. I come to this site to read for spiritual guidance, not political trash. How can you attack the ACA (Affordable Care Act)which is called Obamacare? What is your opinion about the low information, low input, bigoted trump administration which tries to dismantle everything good about a sharing and caring state and country? Is it better to have people dying in the streets because there is no medical care available because they "chose" not get insurance they can't afford. Everyone who lives in Israel is covered. Have you forgotten that. Is that a bad thing. If you don't like it, then don't use the Israeli medical insurance and get help from whoever will give it to you. Who is in charge of America now? The wealthiest people ever. Who will benefit? The same wealthiest people ever of course. Your other points about sexual morality and loose standards are well taken. Keep the politics out of it please.

Further reply o United States of Sodom

I would wish to reply further to Miss Reckles' article. I beg to dissent that eleemosynary activity in the US is restricted. There are over 635,000 charitable organizations in the US. Over 69% of US households donate to charity. Every church in my neighborhood engages in food distribution. The Midrash states that HaSHem would have spared Sodom had its residents practiced chesed. I am hopeful that the chesed of the US will spare our country from Divine retribution.

reply to "United States of Sodom"

Regretfully I concur in the majority of Miss Reckles' essay. As a gay man, I am disconcerted by the intellectual inconsistency of the gay activist community. Gay rights proponents espouse tolerance and diversity, but excoriate anyone who does not subscribe to the Gay Agenda without qualification. As a ger tzedek, I am obliged to oppose homosexuality on halachic grounds, but were I to articulate my opposition in certain quarters I would be denigrated.

  Agree with 11 and 15

There are many rightous non-jews in USA, and Israel has their Miley Cirusses too. And there is nothing wrong with a loving gay couple, monogamous for 30 year, full of love for each other, and helping other people. And I agree with comment 11: Why these articles are published on the breslev website? We come for spiritual nourishment. Don't emphasize the flaws of others and scare people, but show only your own goodness, and people will follow you. Shabat shalom :)

  All True

As a single mom, I can attest to everything in this article. The Obama administration is the downfall of the US. Our country has been turned upside down. The only thing I have left is my emuna that even this must be for the best.

  US. vs. Israel
Sure, Israel has plenty of problems. However, it has kedusha which no other country has. Furthermore, this article isn't a research paper- if you want links, you can email me at racheli@breslev.co.il. Last time I put links there were complaints that those sites linked to others that were not pro-Jewish, to say the least. I'm not doing that again.

I agree. There are many undocumented assumptions in the article. Perhaps the author is a dual citizen but is out of touch with life in the US? According to my info, Israel actually has more poverty with one out of three children born into poverty and elderly persons who cannot afford both medicine and food. Israel also has a gay scene and a moral underbelly. An abortion occurs every 90 seconds in the US, and every 10 minutes in Israel. I believe the only reason to make aliyah is because it is in your heart to do it, but I agree that antisemitism is rearing its ugly head worldwide and becoming acceptable.

Please, think about the purpose of this site when considering what material to publish. If I had wanted to read another anti-Obama screed I'd've gone to any number of Tea Party sites. People come to Breslov sites for spiritual nourishment and inspiration from Rebbe Nachman. Would Rebbe Nachman want you to scare people so they want to leave their current galus or would he want to inspire them so they want to make aliyah?

  Is Sodom & Gomorrah Everywhere?
My conclusion is that S&G is inescapable in our days, as there are no mountains or cities of the plain to flee to, except within our own hearts and minds. Israel is also filled with poverty, corruption and immorality. I believe the remaining diaspora Jewish population will be vomited up out of our comfortable and not-so-comfortable guest homes akin to the exodus.

  Privatized profits vs. socialized losses
Unfortunately, the economic decline of the US hearkens back to involvement in TWO wars (one which was supported by lies via the Bush administration), large tax breaks for corporations, the wealthy screaming about 'entitlement' for those self-same single mothers you mention (how can you scream entitlement out of one side of your mouth and then complain people don't have help out of the other side?). We are where we were at during the Dark Ages of Europe...welcome to the Roman Empire redux!

  Where are your Facts?
This article could be excellent, except it's political from a non-American. . Want to understand Obamacare? Live in the US & have a pre-existing condition = no insurance before this. Policies were initially cancelled & now law is being changed be what was promised. Your information about demonization of the homeless/poor is not inaccurate - share some sources (I found a few but not what you are quoting). The gay thing? Are they having gay sex with you? Then why is it an issue? Live & let live.

Gay 'marriage' - the decline of a civilisation
Add to this the fact that gay 'marriage' is being legalised in several states and you can see the fall of this once-great country happening before our eyes.
