The reason that these "wonder techniques" never do a permanent job is that they aim to remove fear from one's life. Proper fear of Hashem, by contrast, is properly regulated that it is always present in a healthy amount. Any imbalance of fear - be it excessive or be it absent - will impair one's well-being in the long term. That's why these techniques have no permanence.
BS"D As a practicing psycotherapist (did I get it right, or would you prefer to be left as a spiritual coach?) I'm sure that you are well aware of the pitfalls that are latent in any "utopic technique" which professes to "cure all ailments". Mishlei (10:27) says that fear of Hashem adds to one's years. The Gr"a zatza"l explain that excessive fear is harmful to the body. Fear of Hashem, by contrast, is unlike other forms of fear, and it adds to one's life.
