Search Engine Optimization is the art of making your content appear at the top of a SERP page.

What is a SERP page? That’s a Search Engine Results Page. You see, every day, at least 1 billion times someone enters something into a Google search engine text field. Once they do, they will see 10 results on page that correspond to the piece of information they are looking for. 75% of the time they will choose one of the top three pages that Google recommends.

There are small businesses that can make $20,000 in a day if they can rank the #1 page for a certain set of search terms (like “best fitness band”). An SEO manager can drive a lot of business for his company, and make a lot of money for his family.

It’s a big market.

Google makes over $60 billion each year on its search engine business. At little over 15 years, SEO is a very young industry. It doesn’t take long to learn how to learn it. Simply understand how to find the right keywords to use, create pristine content that Google will rank, and spend the rest of your workday looking for back links, which is difficult, but certainly not impossible. A good SEO salary reaches the six figures in dollars.

Now the big question?

What is an article about search engine optimization doing on a Breslev website?

According to LinkedIn, there are a little over 10,000 companies in Israel. 75% of them have less than 50 employees. That means there are thousands of companies in Israel who need someone to run their SEO operations. They don’t just need an SEO person they need a native English speaker. They need someone who knows the English language to enable them to promote their products, their cause, their services to the $25 trillion English speaking economy.

If you love Israel, but worry about how you can make ends meet here, this is opportunity.

When we talk about supporting the State of Israel, we talk about grandiose things like joining the army, giving a million dollars to charity, or reciting the entire Book of Psalms. These are noble acts. But what about the simple, moment to moment tasks we can do to bolster our State using talents any of us can leverage which will make a greater impact than the average Israeli can simply because he speaks English as a second language and we don’t?

The IDF needs money. The generosity of the good people from America accounts for less than 15% of our annual defense budget. The Yeshiva world needs money. Budget cuts are always a threat simply because the funds aren’t available. The social justice movements aimed at helping the poor, and the sick need money. So do the smart bombs we develop to maximize the bad guys that get what they deserve, and minimize the tragedy of innocent casualties of war.

That’s where we come in. It’s the tax money that is generated when you play a key role in Israeli startups becoming small businesses, and Israeli small businesses becoming big businesses. Did you know that one in every four prescriptions filled in the United States will involve a product manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals?  A vibrant economy is not an obligation of the government; it is the responsibility of the people.

This is your journey if you want it. You can spend every moment of every day performing the mitzvah of settling Eretz Yisrael while making a good living. You can work, excel, create, and in the process strengthen us in every way we need to be emboldened.

You can do what what most observant people do. You can walk to work with a kippa on your head and tzitzit on your sides. You can marvel how nobody, from secular to religious, looks at you funny. You can go to minchah prayers in the company shul. Most businesses have one. You can take for granted that everything is kosher. You can gain immeasurable satisfaction in filling out every web form stating that you are from Israel. You can feel comfortable in your own flesh. You can set time every day for Torah learning.

You can live a very full and satisfying life while advancing in your career, your finances, and your dreams. You can serve G-d in the home, the office, the Beit Knesset, and the Yeshiva.

You can give us everything. You can make us stronger in every way imaginable. In the process, you can enjoy the ideal life here. It’s the same life you strive to live where you are right now, only better, richer in every respect, happier, and by extension of that happiness, holier.
