Mirrors of Illusion    Parshat Achrei Mot 5774    A Great Nation
Play Video    Play Video    Play Video
The evil inclination tries to fool people by showing them a negative side of themselves. According to the EI, we're still slaves in Egypt. Seder night - done properly - is a knockout punch to to the Yetzer…    It's implicit in the Torah that the High Priest must know all the sins of the Jewish People; otherwise, how can he confess for all of Israel on Yom Kippur? How does he possibly know?    The Passover Haggada tells us that our forefathers descended to Egypt and became a great nation there, by virtue of the fact that they were outstanding; what does that mean? What is the key to our nation's greatness?

       Daily Torah Quote
Rebuke is a great thing, and every Jew should rebuke his fellow man when he sees him doing something improper. But not every man is fitting to give rebuke, as Rabbi Akiva said: “I wonder if there is anyone in this generation who knows how to give rebuke.” If Rabbi Akiva said this in his generation, so much the more so it applies today (Rebbe Nachman of Breslov).
       Joke of the day
Ever since the spacecraft exploded the Americans have had a great deal of difficulty attracting pilots to man the space shuttle. As a last resort they decided to advertise in the paper and they got three replies, one from a Russian pilot, one from a Polish pilot and one from an Israeli pilot. They interviewed the three pilots one-by-one.The Russian pilot - Ivan - asked for $5,000 to fly the craft. The Polish pilot - Stanislav - asked for $10,000 to fly the craft because he was better trained and more reliable. The Israeli pilot - Moishe - asked for $50,00 because Israelis are the best pilots. The committee convened and decided to pay the $50,000 based on the credentials of the Israeli pilot.Moishe was happy to receive the news. He picks up the telephone and calls the Russian pilot: "Ivan, Ivan, you are on. Here's $5,000. It's your turn to fly the spacecraft."
