Little Nachman – Part 20

Nachman and Shimon began praying to Hashem with all their heart. Every day, they’d set aside an hour a day to go to the garden and talk to Hashem. They’d ask Hashem to help them be good boys, to guard the Jewish people, and to help everyone live honest and upright lives. They would speak to Hashem like a person would speak to a loving and understanding parent or best friend.

One day, Nachman and Shimon heard a little boy crying. They found the boy and asked him, "What’s the matter?"

The little boy sobbed, "My mama is very weak and sick in bed. The doctors came to our house and gave her a checkup; they say she’ll never get well again."

"Heaven forbid!" said little Nachman forcefully. "Hashem is the Physician of all flesh and our compassionate Father. We must pray for your mother’s recovery. Quickly, let’s all three of us ask Hashem to cure your mother."

"But how can I pray?" asked the little boy. "I’m so scared!"

"Don’t worry," said little Nachman. "Shimon and I are right here with you. Hashem is kind and loving, so let’s all pray together…"

"Hashem, merciful Father, " prayed Nachman, with Shimon repeating, "Healer of the sick, please cure the mother of this good little boy. May she have a speedy recovery so she can get out of bed soon. May she have strength, health, and happiness. Please cure her, Hashem. Please listen to our prayers!" They prayed for quite a long time.

Nachman said to the little boy, "Go home and help your mother, and wait and see how Hashem will make her healthy and strong!"

“Hashem is kind and loving, so let’s all pray together…"

To be continued, G-d willing.
